- Where are faculty and instructor positions advertised?
They are published in the Official Gazette and our Institute’s homepage.
- Where and within what period of time should faculty applications be submitted?
Applications should be submitted within 15 (fifteen) days of the advertisement publication date to the Personnel Department.
- Where and within what period of time should instructor applications be submitted?
Applications should be submitted within 15 (fifteen) days of the advertisement publication date.
For instructor positions subject to the Rectorate, applications should be submitted to the Personnel Department. For instructor positions subject to the Faculties and Graduate School, applications should be submitted to the relevant department. Applications be be submitted in-person or by mail.
- For how many years are ALES scores valid?
They are valid for 5 (five) years as of the date of the ALES exam score announcement.
- Is it possible to be exempt from submitting ALES scores?
ALES scores are not required for those who have completed doctoral, medical, dentistry, pharmacy or veterinary or proficiency in the arts education, for those who will be appointed in their specialized fields determined by the Higher Education Council in vocational colleges, and for those who have worked as academic staff of Higher Education Institutions. If the applicant proves his or her exemption status in the application documents, the ALES score is considered to be 70 in the pre-evaluation and final evaluation stages. If an ALES score is submitted in spite of exemption status, that ALES point may be counted.
- Which documents can be submitted as graduation certificates?
Original diplomas, certified copies, or E-Government documents are acceptable. Diplomas from foreign countries must be submitted with a certified document of equivalency.
- I completed my Master’s or PhD studies. What documents should I submit, and where?
You may submit a petition with certified graduation document and, if applicable, equivalency document (Notary Certified Copy, or, if you bring photocopies to us we can certify them) to the Personnel Department.
- In what situations are the Security Investigation and Archive Research implemented, and how long do they take?
The security investigation and archive research are conducted for employees being hired for the first time or being rehired, and they are completed within a month.
- In which cases are Wealth Declarations submitted?
Employees must submit Wealth Declarations when they are hired to our Institute, when there is a significant change in the income or assets of themselves, their spouses, or their children, and by the end of February in years ending with (0) and (5).
- I am a research assistant working under Article 50/d of Law no. 2547. Is my employment term limited?
According to Article 50/d of Law no. 2547, the employment term of research assistants depends on their student status. As long as the education period continues, the research assistant employment status continues. However, this period cannot exceed the maximum period as defined in the “Graduate Education Regulations.”
According to Article 50/d of Law no. 2547, this period is six semesters for Master’s students and 12 semesters for PhD students.
- What is the time period of each appointment for research assistants working under Article 50/d of Law no. 2547? What should I do to initiate reappointment procedures?
Research assistants can be appointed for a maximum of one year, in accordance with Articles 50 and 65 of Law no. 2547 and Article 5 of “Regulations on the Rights and Requirements of Graduate Students assigned as Teaching Assistants and Medical Students Entry Exams.”
One month before the end of the appointment term, students must apply to their departments for employment extension with a petition and activity report.
- I completed my Master’s and have applied to the PhD program. Will my employment continue?
If you finish your Master’s and are accepted to the PhD program, your acceptance letter is sent by your department to the Personnel Department and your employment is extended until the beginning of the next academic year. When you register to the PhD, your employment is reset to one year. In this case your maximum employment period is reset to 12 semesters.
- I work as a research assistant under Article 33/a of Law no. 2547 and am also a graduate student. When I reach the end of my education, is my employment with the department also terminated?
Since research assistants working under Article 33/a of Law 2547 are not obliged to be students, there is no maximum employment period for these employees. The term of employment for these research assistants can be renewed for a maximum of 3 years.
- I am going to complete my military service. What should I do?
When you receive the draft notice, you must apply with a petition to the department in which you work.
- What should I do when I finish military service?
You must submit your discharge certificate and a petition to return to work to your department (you must return to work within 30 days and no earlier than 2 business days of your discharge date.).
- How many leave days are allowed for Paternity and Death?
If an employee’s wife gives birth, he may request 10 days of paternity leave. If an employee or his or her children are getting married, he or she may take 7 days of leave. If an employee’s or his or her spouse’s or child’s mother, father, or sibling passes away, he or she may take 7 days of leave.
- What is unpaid maternity leave? When does it begin and end?
Optional unpaid maternity leave has been increased from 12 to 24 months. In addition, a mother’s spouse can also request unpaid leave for up to 24 months. Unpaid maternity leave for mothers begins at the end of their maternity leave. Leave for the spouses of mothers begins on the date of birth.
- How long is maternity leave?
Maternity leave for female employees begins eight weeks before birth and lasts until eight weeks after birth, for a total of sixteen weeks. In the case of multiple pregnancy, two weeks are added to the eight-week period before birth. However, if the employee submits a doctor’s report eight weeks before the expected date of birth indicating that they are fit to work, they can work up to three weeks before the date of birth. In this case, the maternity leave not taken is added to the maternity leave period following the birth. In the case of an early birth, the maternity leave not taken is added to the maternity leave following the birth.
For early births, the unused maternity leave is added to the maternity leave period following the birth. In case of the death of the mother during maternity leave during or following the birth, if the father is an employee, he may request to take the remaining maternity leave. Employees who adopt a child under the age of three with their spouses or alone may request leave for eight weeks following the date of adoption.
- How can I take the unpaid leave issued through Article 108/E of Law no. 657?
According to Article 108/E of Civil Servant Law no. 657, “Employees may be granted leave of up to one year up to two times if they have completed five years of service. However, the provisions of this paragraph do not apply to employees required to work continuously for a certain period of time according to Article 72.”
- Is an excuse required to obtain leave through Article 108/E?
Unpaid leave under Article 108/E of Civil Servant Law 657 does not require an excuse. The request of the employee and the institute’s approval are sufficient.
- Who is eligible to receive a Special Passport (Green Passport)?
According to Passport Law no. 5682, the following are eligible to receive a Special Passport:
- a) First, second, and third grade public servants who are Turkish citizens
- b) Retired first, second and third grade public servants
- c) The spouses of special passport holders
- d) Widows of spouses who were eligible to receive a special passport when they passed away, if they did not remarry
- e) Unwed and unemployed children of special passport holders who live with their parents, up to the age of 25
- What should I do to retire of my own will?
In order to apply for retirement, a petition stating the desired date of retirement and the following documents must be submitted to your department 15 days before the date of retirement.
